Battlefield: Bad Company 2

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is a first-person shooter video game developed by the Swedish firm EA Digital Illusions CE and published by Electronic Arts for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and iOS systems. It is a part of the Battlefield series and was released worldwide in March 2010.

The game is primarily a squad-level online first person shooter based in a contemporary modern warfare setting. Additionally, the game includes a single player campaign, where the player re-assumes the role of Preston Marlowe, the protagonist of the original game. The game's Frostbite 1.5 engine allows for destructible environments, and multiplayer maps contain a wide selection of vehicles, aircraft and emplacements and allow for five different game modes.

The game was announced in February 2009 and free game demos were made available prior to the game's launch. It was met with a positive reception from game critics, garnering a weighted mean of 88% from aggregator Metacritic for all three ports. It has also become a commercial success, having sold in excess of nine million units since its initial release. Seven VIP map packs as well as a downloadable game mode have been released thus far, and an expansion pack centered around the Vietnam War which was released on December 21, 2010. EA released an iOS port of the game on December 16, 2010.

Single player

Bad Company 2 features a story-driven single player campaign. For most of the narrative, the player takes control of Preston Marlowe, one of the members of the titular "Bad Company". The exception to this is the first mission set prior to the rest of the campaign. Each mission is divided into a series of objectives, often interspersed with cut-scenes which simulate the style of films.
Aside from infantry combat, the campaign contains several missions in which the player controls a vehicle, or mans a weapon turret while a team mate controls the vehicle.
While the other members of Bad Company will engage in combat, the game relies upon the player to complete the objectives and kill most of the enemies. The player's allies can never die.
Each weapon in the campaign is considered a collectible - the first time the player picks up that type of weapon, a "Collectable Unlocked" message appears. There are also sensor stations throughout the campaign the player can find and destroy - this is also recorded in the campaign stats. "Supply Drop" crates are scattered throughout the missions, where the player can exchange weapons and replenish ammo. The Supply Drop crates will remember any weapon the player picks up and this weapon will be available for the rest of the campaign.

Dirt 3

The main mode sees players earn reputation points in various events to gain the interest of sponsors who provide them with new vehicles. Flashbacks return from Dirt 2, which can be used up to five times in any difficulty, but cost reputation points to use. A new gymkhana mode puts players in obstacle courses, challenging them to perform various tricks to earn points. Featured in the game are various party modes, involving events such as smashing wooden targets, spreading a zombie infection, and capture the flag. Other new features include a Hardcore mode which limits players to the cockpit view with no assists, the appearance of rain and snow, and the ability to upload replay clips directly to YouTube

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

Gameplay

Like its predecessors, Modern Warfare 3 is a first-person shooter. Modern Warfare 3 will run at 60 frames per second.
Infinity Ward revealed that Modern Warfare 3 will feature a new Survival Mode. Survival Mode features one to two players fighting endless waves of enemies with each wave getting more difficult. Despite being much compared to the Call of Duty: World at War Nazi Zombies mode, enemies do not spawn at fixed locations like the zombies did, but instead at tactical positions based on the current location of the player. The mode will be available on all multiplayer maps in the game and in the mode, players can earn "cash" for items such as weapons, upgrades and ammo.
Infinity Ward has recently revealed that it has revamped the entire killstreak reward system. They have stated that while Treyarch had slightly improved the system, it was not enough to make the system feel perfect. Along with revamping the entire killstreak reward system, Infinity Ward will also be revamping the entire ranking and unlocks system. Unlike previous games in the series, Modern Warfare 3 will not use a currency system. Infinity Ward has also revealed that they are removing annoyances that make players rely less on skill and more on perks. To do this, they are removing certain perks that give players a power advantage over others who do not possess the same perk. 'Quick-scoping' has also returned, having been absent in Call of Duty: Black Ops. Unlike Call of Duty: Black Ops, Modern Warfare 3 will not feature dive to prone or "dolphin dive" due to various balancing issues in the multiplayer game mode.

Synopsis

Characters

The game will see the return of Task Force 141 Captain John "Soap" MacTavish, former SAS Captain John Price and Russian informant Nikolai who are on the run after killing the rogue U.S. Army Lieutenant General Shepard. Russian Ultranationalist Vladimir Makarov will also reprise as the game's primary antagonist. Several new playable characters have been added, including Derek "Frost" Westbrook and Sandman, a pair of Delta Force operatives in New York City; Marcus Burns, a Sergeant in the Special Air Service fighting in London; and Yuri, a Russian federal security agent. Wallcroft from Call of Duty 4 will also return in the game.
New non-playable characters that have been confirmed so far include Truck and Grunt, who form part of the Delta Force fire team alongside Frost and Sandman. A Delta Force operative named Grinch was announced, with Tobey Maguire voicing.

Plot

The game will immediately follow the events of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, where the Russian Federation continues its invasion of the United States of America, and has also expanded its offensive to Europe, including England, France and Germany.[14] Campaign stages are also planned for Somalia, Sierra Leone, Moscow and Dubai. Gameplay videos from E3 2011 in Los Angeles showed Delta Force soldiers forcing a Russian submarine to surface in the East River and boarding it before taking part in a mission to destroy a radar jamming installation on top of the New York Stock Exchange.

Tomb Raider's E3 2011

The creative director of the Tomb Raider reboot has downplayed the importance of quick-time events in the game.
Tomb Raider's E3 2011 showing left some fans concerned that it would rely heavily on scripted events and quick-time events, but according to creative director Noah Hughes, they're not Crystal Dynamics' "primary tool".
"Quick-time sequences is something we will leverage in the game," Hughes told Gamespot.
"One of the things which is absolutely important to us is to deliver an intense and cinematic experience. At very specific times, we feel we can do that best – while still delivering challenging game play – in a quick-time type event.
"Having said that, it really isn't the primary tool we use to deliver drama in the game."
Emotional impact, Hughes said, will be delivered in other ways.
"The idea of camera during normal game play experiences, and the animation systems and the audio and the big events in the world, these are all things that will deliver emotional impact in a different way."
Hughes admitted the E3 2011 demo, which saw a young Lara beaten and bruised as she frantically tried to escape murderous fanatics, "relies a little bit heavily on the quick time tools, but ultimately, that's a small sweep of our dramatic game play experience."
